Crabgrass is an annual grassy weed that typically germinates in mid to late May as temperatures rise. To combat this, TLC - The Lawn Care Company's lawn care expert applies pre-emergent crabgrass control treatment during the early spring service visit.

This application aims to control 80-85% of crabgrass by preventing its germination.

However, crabgrass often appears in areas like driveway edges and thin lawn spots due to heat stress. To address this, our experts perform spot inspections and treatments during late spring, summer and fall services.

Early spring pre-emergent treatment to stop weeds before they sprout, followed by ongoing inspections and targeted treatments throughout the season to catch and control any breakthrough growth.

Early Spring

We will apply a pre-emergent crabgrass control with your first service. Our goal is to control 80-85% of crabgrass with this application. Crabgrass usually shows up on the edge of the driveway and thin areas in the lawn, as material “breaks down” due to excessive heat. We will spot treat these areas with your summer services. Allow 10-14 days for crabgrass plants to curl and die.

I love their service! I'm not a family or friend, just a customer for 2 yrs. I was skeptical at first because I've had so many landscapers rip me off and treat only part of the total lawncare that is needed. Even the guy who mows my lawn told me how great my lawn looks this year! Before I started, my lawn had fungus, grubs, moles, sand wasp nests, crab grass etc. If your lawn is as bad as mine was, it will take 1-2 yrs before you really start noticing what a difference TLC makes. The staff calls you the day before coming out so you can make sure your pets are inside. Then they leave you with a receipt of services with the exact pesticides, fertilizer and quantity of product. I was spending way more buying the product myself plus I obviously did not know what to use or how to use it because my lawn has been terrible for 8 yrs. I highly recommend them! I'm located in South Jersey so not sure if other reviewers are in bad areas or if they aren't giving TLC enough time to make a difference. Love them.

Our lawn has been serviced by TLC since 2011 and we are so please with their service and personnel. I do get a little crabgrass along the edges, but that is to be expected with the heat. As long as I have it mowed at the correct height, give it the water it needs and TLC does their magic, the out come has been beautiful. Highly recommend there service to my neighbors and friends.

They did a excellent job on my lawn, the weather can be crazy in the north east and with random heat waves , cool down, and a ton of rain the crabgrass and get crazy, anyone with half a brain should know this, but with all that said my lawn looks pretty good, some spots with crabgrass but that's typical this time of year, a lot of fertlizer can get washed away with too much rain and it's tough to keep up with, but tlc really did a nice job.
